Tv guide works ok but can't access recording all it says is please wait ,ive rebooted several times

Tv guide works and we can watch TV but we play recordings  it keeps coming up with   please wait     have tried rebooting several times   makes no difference

I'm having the same trouble with my Sky, rebooted, shut down etc several times but still not working, about to throw it out !!!

It seems its a problem with the hard drive ,got an engineer coming out
