SKY connects to a TV via an HDMI cable and will show in the relevent HDMI connection - it is not tuned. in the TV
If you are trying to perform any tuning this needs either a Freevew (terrestrial) aerial or a separate cable from a Satellite dish but note to use that this will not normally work when you have SKY Q

Typically you'd need to use the television remote control (not the Q handset) to remove any on-screen message relating to 'tuning': there's usually an option somewhere in the settings to skip or permanently disable the DTTV or built-in satellite inputs.
In some models going through at least one tuning pass may be mandatory, but without an aerial no channels will be found.
