Tryig to set up my sky mini box with my new fire tv

Trying to set up my sky mini box on my new firestick TV .. all the cables plugged In and TV works just the sky isn't kicking In

Hi @Gemma57 

There is no connection between a Firestick and a Q box.

(unless I completely misunderstand what you are trying to achieve)

They just go into separate HDMI inputs on the TV.

Select the Sky box HDMI  input on the TV for Sky.

Select the Firestick HDMI input on the TV for the Firestick

It's a fire smart TV .. iv tried every hdmi port only thing I can think is my mini box is faulty

@Gemma57 Is the mini box showing it's on with a green light.

 

Have you definately set the TV to the correct HDMI input.

I have a Toshiba Fire TV as an additional TV in a bedroom and it works fine with a mini box

Yes tried all ports .. the mini box hasn't been used for a while so it could well b that yes green light on and ots been reset . It's not picking one and other up I'm clicking on the hdmi and nothings happening .. they r sending a replacement  

Box out to check otherwise i have no idea

Any luck ? I've just brought a Toshiba fire tv and I'm having the same problem it won't pick up my sky q box and it was working fine this morning on my older tv

@Bexsam12 have you gone through all the HDMI options in the main fire menu as I have a Toshiba fire TV as an additional tv and it works fine with the mini box I have the HDMI cable in the HDMI 1 port then you have to select the port in the option from the main Fire menu

 I've tried everything it's only showing up hdmi 2 and I've tried clicking and nothing and I've tried all other hdmi points and nothing

I rang toshiba they told me to restore factory setting on the TV start again and it works fine    said the TV is made with a old update and new one needs to b installed rest the whole TV unplug it all then start again .  Mine works fine now and picks up the hdmis .. toshiba help line was very good with me

Make sure u reset factory settings on the TV then start again

@Bexsam12 restore factory settings and start again with tv .. toshiba error it is with a new update version  👍 mimes fine now .. just started from beginning after factory restore

Got a Mini Box as a freebie as  had been with Sky for yonks- great, I thought, I can lie in bed and watch what's on downstairs. No chance, the thing is set up according to the blurb and I have a good WiFi signal, but it works for a few minutes and then loses signal. I have boosters all over the place and my house isn't that big, so I can only assume the thing is Rubbish. Can't be bothered any more as I was ageing by the minute, but Sky don't care if it works or not.

The mini won't use your own WiFi network unless your ISP is Sky.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers
