Same for me.  I've handed my notice in as last drop out came within the final month of my contract - Sky are sending out an engineer after my contract has finished, go figure !!

It seems this has worked for me

I do periodically clear down the recordings - and did so fairly recently. It may be a coincidence but we haven't had an issue for a couple of weeks... Our main Sky box has always been plugged straight into the main Deco though.

Next time (and there *will* be a next time...) I'll check how full the main Sky unit is and see if a clear out improves matters.

keep ya posted!

I have had the same problem with my mini boxes freezing. I have tried all rebooting and all the other ideas mentioned on here to no avail. I think have finally resolved by going to main box and deactivating and then reactivating sky mini boxes. Seems to have finally fixed problem

Try updating the software on Sky Q .

I get it .... my mini box nearly went out of the window after 3 or 4 weeks of refusing to connect...   so frustrating.

All I wanted to do was watch something as I went to bed without having to get out of bed to run up and down the stairs to check connections and to press various buttons ... to then have to wait 'while we connect ' and to be given various error codes .. and to be told that my broadband wasn't working when it was clearly, fine .
I decided that I'd give it one last try... carefully following the instructions ( which , by this time , I knew by heart)..

 To no avail.
Though ...  while reading some more online discussions , I found somebody talking about software updates.

I thought it unlikely because , in all this time , I hadn't seen them mentioned .

So ... when updated .... it all started to work again ...

 quickly and smoothly.

 Yay .

 At last .

It might be worth a try for you. .  . Before madness sets in .

 Good luck .

Have you disabled wifi?

We've not had a recurrence for as long as I can remember - and the only 'change' was to clear out loads of old recordings from the main box.

Everything else remains the same- Sky WiFi off, Deco PX50 mesh WiFi (master sky box wired to master Deco) etc.

Re: Totally Frustrated with SKYQ mini boxes keep losing connection to main Sky box!

@Robbo0410 Interested in finding out whether the new box sorted out your connectivity issues? Have had Sky Q for over 9 years and was fairly new system at install. Remember there were constant issues/updates when I had installed (felt I was part of their launch testing team at the time!) but it did settle down after a few months and has been reliable over the years. Have main box, 2 mini boxes (wi-fi connected) and BT fibre 900 which is really reliable for connection & wi-fi. Hard drive on my main box failed last year and supplied with new one , though can't tell if this was reconditioned. The 2 minis have been displaying the "connectivity issues" message with the one nearest the main box (next room) almost daily at start up and the other upstairs occasionally. When starting the main box it starts up with the menu and current programme showing but won't respond to the controller for around 30 seconds. Had engineer call out who said he knew what was causing that and would fix it and he adjusted the channel and wi-fi settings. All seemed good for a couple of days but started again. Ordered new mini to replace the worst of the 2 but still same issue. When I get the connectivity message, the minibox has both the network and internet boxes ticked and the correct router with boxes ticked for router and internet connections. Still have to reboot it to get it to work. I'm starting to think that it is the main box and be good to know if yours was stable when you were forced to replace yours.

Re: Totally Frustrated with SKYQ mini boxes keep losing connection to main Sky box!

@Bobalovski I recently changed broadband provider from Sky, I'm now with Zen for my broadband as the sky router would constantly reboot itself, had no such problems with Zen, router has been on for best part of 3 weeks now with no problems, I am still having problems with Sky Q though, the connection will drop every 24 hours and I have to keep going into engineer settings disabling the wireless then re-enabling it for it to connect again, every other device is fine, been in touch with Sky, they told me to update the box which I have done and the connection is still dropping, I can't have it hard wired as I have young children and it wouldn't be child friendly having an ethernet to the router, kids would more then likely pull on it and I don't want anymore problems! They also said if it was hard wired the connection wouldn't drop so I am unsure what to do really, it also only connects to the 2.4ghz band since I'm no longer with Sky broadband and I'm on fibre 900 with Zen so it's not the fastest when downloading ultra HD content on demand, so kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place, I have to get in touch with them again as they said they would send a new Q box out if what they suggested did not work

Is it just a main Q box?  (No mini's?)

Can you increase the DHCP lease time?  (it may be set to 24 hours?  86400 seconds is quite usual)  And/or add a reservation?

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Re: Totally Frustrated with SKYQ mini boxes keep losing connection to main Sky box!

@PandJ2020 yeah it's just a Q box, and I have no idea how to do what you suggested, it's literally the only device that drops connection so I'm assuming it's a common problem with non sky broadband users

Re: Totally Frustrated with SKYQ mini boxes keep losing connection to main Sky box!

Thanks @PandJ2020 & @Robbo0410 for your replies. As my new mini box showed the same connectivity issue following install, I came to the conclusion that something was wrong with the Sky software as this was a relatively new issue appearing in the past few months. I checked the software version running and it was Q280.000.08.00L (5vosfts) on all 3 boxes. I checked the Sky website and it was showing  the most recent version as Q270.000.10.09PL. I almost gave up at that point until I saw a post on a different thread quoting the up-to-date version as being Q300.000.06.00 L (5yzv4ns). I installed this a couple of weeks ago on all 3 boxes and no connectivity issues since. Now, it would be easy with hindsight to ask why I didn't look at this first? Quite simply, the Sky website indicated that I was running a newer version than the one quoted (website since updated). I also had a Sky engineer out who fiddled about with stuff and assumed that he would check this. I'm guessing that part of the latest update addressed the connectivity issue. Been unable to find a list of all the software versions, when they became available and what they fixed, so can't check whether this was a known issue. Just happy that got a stable system again as I was at the point of leaving.
