The future of Sky Q

Hi @Edward3345   On your Sky Q box, using the Sky Q remote hit Home -> Settings -> System info and tell us the Harware version of your box. It will start with 32.

I first started this thread on 6th December 2024.

i woke up this morning to find I have been sent about 18 postings in the last day approx.

I have read all of them. I am not good with modern technology and I am finding this all rather complicated,  but being a regular user of this site I am learning all the time which is good,

For the record. I live in a block of flats. We have a Sky Communal dish. I have one Sky Q box in my little flat I. find generally the reception is good and I like the service Sky Q provides.

I assume nothing has changed and Sky Q will still be in operation till at least 2029. Is this still correct?

Hopefully by then Sky streaming boxes and Sky Glass TV will have advanced and got better. 
I would also add. I am a Sky Diamond customer and I have been with Sky for a very long time. Generally I find Sky service to be very good.

Without a crystal ball afraid nobody knows when the Satellite services will ultimately terminate.

All you can do is just sit back and enjoy it while you can!

Someone I know who wants to become  a Sky customer and join Sky and have Sky tv  is being told, if I understand correctly, that he can only have Sky streaming box or Sky Glass tv amd not have a Sky Q box.

In the not too distant future, I suspect we will all have to have this option.
Added to this, is those of us who still want something called a landline  at home will have to go Digi Voice.

We can then be in the following situation.

We come back home after a very hard days work

We find for some reason our broadband router has stopped working and we have lost our broadband connection.

We will then have no landline and no Sky TV and  we will have to rely on getting television through your aerial, if you still have one, and using your mobile phone through a 4g or 5g connection and wait patiently for  an engineer to come and sort things out.

Such is modern day life. Is this progress?

I do not  think so. Just my opinion.

I was clearly  given the wrong information. 

I assume though, that the future is Sky Glass TV or Sky Streaming boxes.

The good thing is with a Sky Q box, if you lose your broadband connection,  you can still watch live television and record.

I say again. If you lose your broadband connection and you just have Sky Glass television or a Sky Streaming box, you will have to read a book, listen to the radio, or have an early night. Such is modern day life. Is this real progress? I do not think so.

Just my opinion of course.
