You mean cables.... unfortunately it's impossible with my house configuration I'd have to have cables from upstairs along a landing and down through stairs to get to my sky box thanks but impossible...I'll live without it at least my phone and tablet never have issues unless it's a fault outside somewhere which is often as I live remotely!!! Hey ho ...it could be worse!

No I mean powerline adapters which avoid exactly that (or what people really do which is fit ethernet through the ceiling & wall cavities but it's a lot of work to retrofit) by using your electricity mains wiring to carry the data signal.

I tried powerlines and they made no difference, well they changed the problem to a different error, something to do with proximity, they were certainly no better, it was a bit eaier to fix, only had to unplug the extenders for a bit and then plug them back in (all of them!)
I am convinced it is to do with interference, since changing my main tv from a Samsung to a newer Sony I have not had any issues, if possible I would recommend trying to disable the wifi on the TV and seeing if there is any improvement, obviously this may not be a permanent solution for many as it will disable any SMART features the TV has, but if it works it might help to figure a solution, especially if you can configure the TV frequencies or plug straight into a LAN.
Further to this If I use a docked Nintendo Switch (wifi) on the main TV where the main SKY box is then it immediately disconects the mini box, same with a Nintendo Wii U, and sometimes but not always the XBOX series X. It does not matter if these are configured to use a different wifi source (i.e. phone hotspot), if I plug in a LAN cable (to a mesh point) then the issue is resolved.
The solution should lie with SKY but they are obviously not interested in resolving this, I would suggest trying to isolate sources of interference and working backwards from there, fortunately for me I stumbled upon a solution, that kind of bypasses SKY's obviously poor tech

Join the huge clan of unhappy customers that pay a fortune for sky...they arnt interested ...be careful I rang them got some foreign bloke in Calcutta that says he'll fix it well he well and truly messed it up he failed as he reset my box I lost all my recordings I had been saving up !!!! Well done and that was after he made me turn it all off it still wouldn't connect...he even ordered a new sky q box I turned it away as it turned out as I fixed it myself....but it's short lived... you turn it all off go on holiday then turn it box back in and wifi do that first go on holiday...then it should automatically connect or you have the pain in the **bleep** letters and numbers to key in and your there going mad !!! Once its reconnected it then stays like it for a day or a week depending on how it's feeling!!! It's called band steering sky hates the 5 herts it steers to from the wifi it likes 2.5 or whatever it is but 6 kicks it aside as it's stronger that's how I see it and it disconnects..... it's not anyone's router it's the sky box workings that need a serious overhaul but sky if course blame your router and it's a conspiracy of course to get u to use sky broadband I expect I'm on bt so they pass the buck...I now leave my sky Q box alone when it dats you seem to be not connected i go on holiday again come back and its reconnected again!!!! Of course I'm not taking all these holidays I'm passed that now I'm making a cuppa or just waiting two days to go by...!!! Lol. Wonderful isn't it.

Since my previous post my skq q box is not connected again to WiFi twice this week! Soooooo boring...so all I do is leave it and wait two days fur the band steering to fight it out again...do sky ever read these comments ?!?!

I have just read through this thread and wanted to add my voice to the crowd of SkyQ box owners with the same WiFi disconnecting issue.
Up until recently, the sky box continually held its WiFi connection but a few months ago it started disconnecting at some point when the box was on standby. As soon as it's switched on the next time, the main page had the message saying I didn't have a connection. I would unplug it and switch it back on and it still wouldn't connect. I can go in to network settings, reset it and it would reconnect fine. Watch and stream as usual, switch off and go to bed. Wake up next day switch on Sky box and the same issue again.
It is NOT our internet. I'm sick of Sky telling me that it's our internet. It's 10000% nothing to do with us. It's you Sky!

Having this problem as well. Just reset and reconnected and also turned on the hotspot boost on the Q box. Hopefully that keeps it nice and strong and connected, if not may go with a hardwire approach before anything more drastic happens.
What are the chances you (and I) all have non sky provided internet? Pretty sure it can't be that, that sounds hella illegal but we don't live in a world where we can just write something like that off.

It's called band steering sky q prefers 2.5 hertz or whatever it's called it steers towards 5 which knocks it out frequently I just accept it now turn it all off plus wifi and then reconnect it with the crazy passcodes drives me insane avdhim not with sky broadband strangely !!!!! It's a complete nonsense sky don't want to know and neither does your provider...in the age of technology this sucks especially as we pay a lot for our sky luxury that gives us stress 😬 😬

So Sky are not going to fix it?
Well I called Sky and was told "Yes we can fix it"
Just pay another £10 or £15 per month and you can "TRY" a sky top of the range router.
We pay Sky a leg and an arm every month, this is not acceptable.

Yep it's all a con to get u to use their broadband not another it's a complete con it's absolutely outrageous way of carrying on...one day I'll just end it with sky and live without them.

Having similar issues but with a bigger knock on effect.
had our Sky Q box since release 2016, with 4 mini boxes and had zero issues until now.
So about a week and a half ago all our WiFi devices began playing up (losing connection or lagging) including the Sky Q main box tick cross tick issue (though it was still connecting to the mini boxes). Assumed it was an issue with my BT internet network or equipment so had them out,
Open reach confirmed no network or equipment issues, changed the router but no better. They then basically said nothing else they could do.
So to try and see if thre was a bad device in my network I went device by device until I isolated the Sky Q box to be the root cause. I disconnected it from the network and now everything else is working fine.
i phoned Sky to explain this and to also explain I had the same connect/disconnect cycle when the box was set to WiFi or Ethernet. They said sounds unlikely to be their box (🤣) but are sending me a replacement.
Will have to see if it makes any difference.

It will make no difference it's the hertz it don't like 5 it prefers 2.5 so it disconnects... band steering..... basically if u switch to sky broadband all will be well....!!!! Mine is not connected to WiFi right now it's a weekly annoyance so now I Just leave it !

Yup, band steering will cause disconnects. Decent routers will have the option to disable this - but can often be in the 'advanced' configuration.
