Technical fault at 1.30am nightly

The last three nights, Sky Q has had a technical fault - please try later message.

I've had to reboot the box to get going again.

This happens at 1.30am on the dot and is extremely frustrating.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

Is this on a mini? If so the main box likely did its regular reboot cycle.

Re: Technical fault at 1.30am nightly

Hi Chodley

I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean by a "mini", so I presume not.

This is a completely new issue, so it cannot be a 'regular' Sky re-boot. I'm used to it updating overnight somewhere early in the month, with an occasional one later in the month. But never had a "Technical issue" three nights running.

After I've disconnected the digi box for 30 seconds or so, and plugged back in, it's eventually come back OK.

If it's a Sky re-boot, then the message is not helpful, as surely I shouldn't disconnect anything while it is happening.

Re: Technical fault at 1.30am nightly

Check if is set to Eco modes as Eco mode is the recommended setting for your Sky Q box as it consumes less energy by going into low power mode between 1:30am and 5:45am. The box won't enter this mode until any scheduled recordings are complete. Bringing your box out of Eco mode will take a few minutes, and using your Sky Q Mini box before 5:45am may cause connectivity issues. To avoid this, you can switch your standby setting to Active or None. To change the standby settings, press Home on your Sky Q remote, select Settings, then Setup, followed by Preferences, and Standby mode. Select the setting you want and press Confirm.

Re: Technical fault at 1.30am nightly

Thanks Jacoblife

I had been looking at settings recently, so have been in to check now that I hadn't change that setting to Eco. Which I haven't.

Standby mode is set to None.

So thanks for trying, but it's not that one sadly. Would have been an easy fix, wouldn't it.

Eco Mode only starts at 2:45am so wouldn't explain  a problem at 1:30.

Sorry Xenon I've only just seen your reply.

I didn't manage to sort it out, but it seems to have sorted itself out, as it's not happened the last 3 days!

Probably me posting about it gave it a fright LOL.

Thanks for trying to help me, it's nice to not feel alone with a problem.
