Some TVchannels ask for a PIN code. What does this mean and where do I get this pin?

Thanks. Tried several times to change on Sky box, using correct pin; didn't work, was locked out. Have changed it online now and curious if that works. Do we pay for viewing stuff that is only accessible with a pin? Thanks again for your help!

The channels which use a PIN because they are carrying post-watershed content before 21:00 are all subscription services: primarily Sky Atlantic, Comedy, Documentaries and various Sky Cinema options.
There's no additional cost on top of the subscription after entering a PIN unless the content is Box Office PPV (typically an advertised one-off live sporting event) or a film rental/purchase from Sky Store
