TNT sports channels 1-4 ‘no satellite signal”

I can get all the channels on my Sky Q no problem with the exception of the 4 TNT sports channels.  Just says 'no satellite signal' on each one. Strangely I can get the TNT UHD channel enabling me to watch the Spurs game last night.
anyone else have this issue ?

I've gone through all the usual steps that Sky recommend to retune but it surely can't be a satellite signal issue as I have no problems for watching any other channel.

@PRM7859

It can be. If you’re seeing a “no satellite signal” message check that the connections from the Sky dish going into the back of your Sky Q box are still finger tight. Otherwise it’s very likely a dish misalignment or possibly a failing LNB (on the arm of the dish) so check the troubleshooting on this link
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-tv-no-satellite-signal-sky-q
It may then give you the opportunity to arrange an engineer to check the alignment of your dish. If it doesn’t you’ll need to contact Sky to book an engineer appointment.

If you are connected to a communal dish you need to liaise directly with your building management company / landlord who will have their approved engineers to contact.

It’s worth noting that:

▪️ a misalignment is not necessarily something that will be visible to the naked eye and could only affect one or two channels

▪️ a Sky Q box requires a periodic 'Keep alive' signal that is delivered via the satellite so if that isn’t received the box will close down until the satellite signal is restored.

Re: TNT sports channels 1-4 ‘no satellite signal”

Thanks, appreciate your suggestion. I'll check this but surely  a faulty connection would affect all channels and not just the 4 from one 'supplier' ie TNT ?

TNT Sports Ultimate is broadcast from a different satellite transponder from the other TNT HD channels.

( 12.207 GHz V Tp26)

Which suggests to me that you need to have the aim of your satellite dish re-optimised.

Re: TNT sports channels 1-4 ‘no satellite signal”

It's very possible for only one frequency carrying a certain group of channels to be affected. In this case TNT 1-4 are all broadcast on the same frequency but TNT UHD is seperate which is why that is still working.

Quite often on here people are reluctant to believe it's a dish alignment fault when only one group of channels is affected. but that's how most dish alignment problems start.

@PRM7859   TNT also choose to use the Europe satellite beam and not the UK satellite beam, so their satellite signals will always be around 3 dB weaker than any UK beam channels.

Thus, satellite signals broadcast from the Europe beam will normally be the first to show signs of degradation as a satellite dish moves from its optimal reception position.

Re: TNT sports channels 1-4 ‘no satellite signal”

Thanks Godfrey, that does all make sense. I've not been watching any of the channels much lately, but come to think of it, the last time I did  the picture did keep breaking up..pixellating...so I guess the alignment was changing.  Does this mean I need a visit from sky to fix ? 😩

I have exactly the same problem and have tried everything incl calling out an Engineer.

Still no change.

Did you manage to sort out your problem as I am running out of ideas ??

Many thanks

@JMH33

And what did the engineer do / say? Did he not try a TNT channel before leaving?

Usual reminder that you can watch all of the TNT Sports channels live via the discovery+ app on your Sky Q box if needed, just make sure it is activated in time.

No you can't record and yes I know it doesn't fix the satellite issue, but it does let you watch what you are paying for while you are getting a fix in place.

Re: TNT sports channels 1-4 ‘no satellite signal”

I renewed my contract with sky yesterday and was advised that I had to watch the 4 TNT channels through the Discovery Plus app. this worked.
I only ever watch the football on TNT, not bothered about anything else's and the premier league or champions league games are on the UHD channel which I can still get without any problems so overall I'm not too bothered.
As I sit and write this, I've just tried the 4 channels again and to my surprise they're all there and I didn't go through Discovery plus !
Before you ask...I've no idea !
