Hi @kwangomango   I apologise if it has been asked before, but what is the make and full model number of your TV?

@MightyQuinn It's a 77 inch LG G3 OLED - lg oled77g36la. It was their flagship OLED from a couple of years ago.

Compare the rugby on TNTU 493 with the PL football on SkySpMEUHD 401 right now. It's a night and day difference in quality. Both are 4K HDR.

  • @kwangomango Just out of interest, have you seen any issues with a kind of shimmering effect on red or orange shirts on TNT UHD broadcasts? I'm still an HD customer, and since the start of the season, most live broadcasts on TNT Sports 1 have been affected by this. It's very noticeable when anyone wearing red or orange moves across the camera, or if the camera pans across someone wearing those colours. It's really odd. I've raised it with Sky, who said they would contact TNT, but unsurprisingly I didn't get an answer!

@TechGuy007 That's not something that's caught my attention, but I'll keep an eye out for you.

Here are some comparison pictures I've taken as both 493 and 401 are showing 4K HDR football at the moment. It's by no means scientific but it's a fair representation of what I've seen across both channels in many matches:

493 - TNTU

401 - Sky Sports ME UHD

See how much more detail there is in the crowds? I'm assuming that TNT are skimping on the nitrate.

I assume you will have access to Discovery+ as part of your subscription, so worth having a look at the game on there and seeing if you see the same. I've not spotted anything, I usually watch UHD where available on the app.

Hi. Yeah I checked the Discovery+ app on both Sky Q and my LG TV. The quality is identical to channel 493, so it's not just a broadcast issue. Just TNT cheaping out on the bitrate.

Yes - my comment was actually directed to @TechGuy007 over the comment "shimmering effect on red or orange shirts" which I haven't noticed on UHD on the app.

As per you, the overall UHD issue affects broadcast and streaming.
