Stop using multiroom to disable sky mesh which is not compatible with modern Wi-Fi systems

Sky a box creates its own mesh Wi-Fi which interferes with modern Wi-Fi causing the q box to drop the internet. If I stop using multi room will the q box not create the mesh?

Only switching off WiFi on a Q box will stop it broadcasting.

This would mean the box itself needs an ethernet connection for any network/online functionality.

1) Press the ‘Home’ button on your remote control.
2) Scroll down to highlight ‘Settings’ but DO NOTpress select.
3) Press ‘001’.
4) Press ‘Select’

Then: Network -

- 2.4Ghz wireless - Off

- 5Ghz wireless - Off

There could be a problem if the Sky mesh is broadcasting on the same channel as your own WiFi network.

The Sky mesh broadcasts on channel 36-48 so choosing a different channel for your own WiFi network may help. I use channel 100 and have no problems (also on Virgin Media)..

No reoccurrence of network drop out since I turned off the sky mini box. So it will remain off until it is used, but cannot be assu red it will work . Is it worth retaining?

You could investigate using Powerline network adaptors, which would mean the Mini could be connected without having WiFi enabled.

Good way to proceed . Does anyone know if the sky mesh remains active when the q box is on erthenet or does the mini box have to be on erthenet too?

Sky Q boxes will have active WiFi unless this is turned off on each box: the 'mesh' and 'hotspot' functions are just particular applications of that WiFi.
