Hi all. Last weekend I lost all satellite signal but my netflix etc apps all still worked. Did all the usual power cycles and disconnected everything and checked all cables. Tried spare cables too. Was suggested to try the softest of the 3 resets so as not to lose all my recordings. Did this and was greeted with no satellite signal for all the menus and even the apps didn't work. Cut a long story short, sky sent me a new box out and I followed the instructions, changed the LNB to SCR and reset. Still no satellite signal. I am on an estate with a central hub and the signal comes through to a GTU box thing. Any help to stop the kids moaning would be much appreciated. Thank you....

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIf you change the LNB type to SCR in the Q box settings you have to reboot the Q box for the setting to take affect.
Have you tried rebooting your Q box after changing >
To reboot press Standby on your Sky Q remote (if the box responds to the remote), and then switch off and unplug at the mains.
Wait at least 30 secs and then Plug back in and switch your Sky Q box back on at the mains.
Wait for the on screen instructions to disappear and the front led to turn Amber. Then wait for 30 secs before you press Home on your Sky Q remote or if this is not working press the standby button on the front of the Q box (Amber led)
note: some features may take up to 5 minutes to return.

Assume you are on a Communal Dish system and don't have your own dish?
Did you check that the LNB type was SCR after you rebooted the Q box

Yes that was the first thing I checked after the all the problems I had at the weekend. Really odd. Just pulled all.the wires out at the GTU box and left them.for a while and tried again and still nothing. I'll try and get hold of the engineer who looks after our estate and see what he/she can do!! Thank you @oldfella!
