13th. November at 22:02 on Channel 5, adverts started with sound them after 1 min 40 seconds the FLASH MOP advert started with NO sound followed with an ASDA advert still with NO sound.

Then after 2 minutes 19 seconds the sound came back with the Cancer Research UK advert.

I have recording this on my mobile phone, let me know if you want a copy.

I have just had this happen to me. It was on channel 150 5action and was at 10:26. The advert at the time that came on was EE advert

Just happened on Channel 5 at 16.04. Sound went off during Pringle ad and only returned in switching channel and back again once film had restarted.

I've been having the same issue for some months. I'm currently watching 5select and it's the same. I have a Sky Q box and a Sony Bravia TV which is new, replacing an LG TV.

This is making me think that it is a broadcaster issue, as it only seems to affect channel 5 (or its subsidiaries). It's an age old problem that you would've thought sky would have been able to sort out by now.

This happened tonight at 21:47 on 5 Star. Occurs every ad break. If you switch channels the sound returns briefly then goes off again. Sound during main programme is not affected. Definitely an issue with ads on 5 channels. Mine is a Sky Q box - software version Q230.000.14.00L (5nf3ptk), hardware version 32B206, UI version 23.692.230.03, Network version 2.00.

I used to have this problem with my SkyQ, LG TV and LG home theatre.  Fixed it by using the optical "game" input on the amp rather than HDMI...go figure!  Some encoding thing I'd guess.

But...just changed to a new LG OLED TV but same amp.  This has forced me back to trying to use HDMI-ARC for the audio (wont bore you as to why).  Overall, OK *except* I noticed last night that 1-2sec audio blank between adverts is still there on E4Extra (have not exhaustively tested all other chans but this is chan is totally reproducable even if I pause re-wind and replay)

Not sure if you are still watching this thread but the issue is not fixed.

Try FoodNetwork (all adverts do it and on return to main feature), or Sky News (occasional, seems to depend what advert happens before return to main feature).

I have proved that the SkyQ box is the issue.  Optical cable direct to my LG Home Theatre shows the effect with NO tv "in the loop"...so audio straight out of Q box direct to amp via optical and I get gaps in audio  for about 2 secs as each ad starts.  Also happens if I rewind and replay.

I've run our of settings to try on ALL boxes...its fundamental to the stream somehow.

Happy to record exact dates and times...just ask 🙂
