It's nothing to do with HDMI.
Go into settings on the TV then Apps scroll towards the bottom until you find Samba manager go into it, clear cache, Force stop then disable app.
mine hasn't turned off since I did this.
good luck!

Nothing to do with HDMI
Go into TV settings then Apps then scroll down to Samba manager then clear cache, Force stop and then disable app. It's worked for me so far.

Thank you. This was really annoying me over the last month or so. I've turned Samba off, and the TV was fine yesterday. Keeping my fingers crossed that it works going forward!

Just turn samba off on the Sony tv and you can keep hdmi control (cec) on and solution works for me. All the best

Thanks guys. Almost a week now and everything is fine with watching both live TV and recordings. Was otherwise having daily issues. Your help has been much appreciated!

Hi Stevan @Stevan
I have been having the same problem with my Bravia 8 Sony Tv for months now. I am on my 4th TV now and still the same problem. I am going to turn off the Samba App on mine off tonight. Fingers crossed this cures the problem. Have you had any problems with yours since you diabled Samba. Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks
Rob

Mines been fine since turning off samba it's been a week. Before it was happening every day so seems like that's the fix.

Thanks @TanerC for this. Sony Techincal support know there is a problem and they are supposed to be issuing a full fix in December.
Thanks
Rob

That's good to know whenever I spoke to sky or Sony they kept sayin they don't know of any issue.

Mine has been doing it up to 3 times a day, its been so annoying. The TV is only on for a bit at night time when we get in for work. Going to try this later so fingers crossed. I was going to get my money back on the TV as couldn't put up with it for much longer. Only found this info today. So going to give it a week and see how I get on, otherwise I will be getting rid.

Yeah when I first got it I exchanged it cos I thought it was faulty then new one came and did the same thing 😂 but definitely been ok for over a week now once I turned samba off. Also separate thing what's your picture quality like? I find it grainy on some movies and shows but on others it's fine. I've been told it's how certain films are filmed. Anyone on here know best picture settings?

I have a Bravia 7 and for 2 weeks no problem, then, every day screen goes black, veeerrrryyyyy annoying, even sent my New hdmi cables back to amazon as faulty, went to some new fancier cables and same problem. Have disabled the Samba and will update in a couple of days if this temp fix works.

Yeah some content is deliberately grainy to give it a "film" feeling.
are these all UHD you're comparing?

Yep I know what you mean with the grain, it's how the programme is filmed, also depends on the bitrate the channel is broadcasting, some are low quality feeds, example of a high quality feed is on bbc Scotland last night was Highland cops, was a really good feed, very crisp for just a HD programme, channel 5, Jeremy vine on now, the pic is a bit, meh. Some camera angles are ok, some seem oversharpened, some panning across the presenters are very not HD looking. I just go on YouTube to remind myself how awesome the picture quality is on these new range of Sony.
