Sky w hotspot with ee broadband

Am trying to use a multi room sky q box (in my shed) as a Wi-Fi hotspot.

However, after following all the steps on 'Settings' (Sky menu) it then says:

'Your router's wi-fi security does not meet our minimum requirements.'

It then tells me I need WPA2 security.

I have the ee Brightbox 2 router (it's what my Sky q is connected to). I have been into its settings and changed security to WPA2 on all networks. But, it still gives the same message.

Any ideas?

Hi @Donkeyshed68

I have removed your duplicate post as you posted your issue twice.

Did you try set up the mini hotspot using the following procedure?

Re: Sky q hotspot with ee broadband

Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes, I have followed the steps in the article.

I have restarted the router several times, turned WPA2 on/off, but I keep getting the same message.

Has anyone else with ee had this same issue?

Re: Sky w hotspot with ee broadband

Anyone at all? I'm sure there must be a lot of ee customers using Sky q.

Perhaps the use of Wi-Fi hotspots is not that well-known though.

Would be interested if any other ee customers had tried to set up the hotspots, just to know what happened.

@Donkeyshed68

I suspect the use of Q hotspots with non-Sky broadband is pretty small, mostly because the functionality has to be manually activated, and partly because it's less effective even when active than where Sky is the ISP.
