Re: Sky tv loses Internet connection

FWIW, my connectivity problems were caused by a faulty fast ethernet switch with lights showing a intermittent activity. Changed it for another unmanaged switch and all internet and mini box issues cleared.

Re: Sky tv loses Internet connection

there had to be a reason it's doing this.  If Sky can't fix it then you'll be free to leave without penalty since you aren't getting what's being paid for

Same here.  We are Virgin too.  Never had any problems with Sky Q until last few months.  No internet in morning - other times trying to connect to my neighbours internet.  Nothing wrong with Virgin Modem as all else working but it's reset more times than I've had hot dinners Sky Q and tv been unplugged - various cables renewed.  Everything possible had been done but still getting problems.    Hubby has until oct 26 on his contract to run. No way are we paying that for **bleep** or no service

It's not trying to connect to your neighbour's wifi. This is a common misinterpratation of the SKYxxxxxx wifi network that sometimes appears. It's actually the Q's own mesh.

As I always say on these threads, use powerline adapters (or full ethernet, or a wifi mesh with hard wired connections for the sky boxes) or deal with a lot of emotional pain.

Re: Sky tv loses Internet connection

I followed this suggestion of unplugging the router and Sky Q Box at the same time and I am happy to say it has worked.  I have not lost connection in over three days now.  Thank you.

Re: Sky tv loses Internet connection

Did they tell you what the issue is?
My internet is through Go Fibre and I have to keep reconnecting the internet on my sky Q.  All other devices work fine.  Go Fibre upgraded my router but issues are still happening

Re: Sky tv loses Internet connection

On back of sky q instead of using WiFi you can plug in a cable then plug it in back of your router if has four ports on it if not can get a extension port for them and make it a stable connection I have hard wired mine from router to the box giving it a better connection WiFi tends to drop do a speed test too four times that tell you if the speed is stable I told sky one speed test is no good as won't show any fluctuation on the line all my devices hard wired box smart tv and PC uses build pcs

A single speed test does in reality do multiple tests. It just doesn't show you them.

You won't see much in the way of fluctuations on modern hardwired connections.

The extension you mentioned is an ethernet switch.
