received message from Sky saying my Sky+tv box will no longer receive software enhancements and they want to replace it with latest Sky Q one. I only use the box in my motorhome and am away from home. Can I post it to neighbour for them to give to Sky in return for the new one, then later I can just plug it in and pair my card?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThat wouldn't work as the engineer will have to do work on your dish attached to the house with a responsible occupier there. Futhermore Sky boxes and the viewing card can only be used at your normal full time address as per the T's and C's.

Note that your current box doesn't require any such 'enhancements' in order to continue to function as long as it's an HD model.
As @Daniel0210 indicates, migration to Q involves a modification to the dish which will only be carried out at the subscription postal address and not the (unauthorized) motorhome setup.

FYI, by the end of the summer 2024 ALL Sky SD owned channels are to change their delivery protocol to DVB-S2 that only the HD boxes can process, so ALL older SD only boxes will not be able to output these channels (if your Sky box can receive Channel 5 HD then you need do nothing as your box will not need replacing).
If your box is SD only and you want to keep receiving these channels you can either replace your incompatible boxes with a second hand Sky+HD box or upgrade to a newer Sky service (Sky Q / Sky Glass / Sky Stream) at your main address obviously (not your Motorhome).
