Sky sports mix

Hi, I have SkyQ box, Essentials TV plus HD Sports package but cannot view Sky Sports Mix, I don't need it in HD and the description says it is available to all Sky customers but when I go to channel 416 is says I need to upgrage my package?

Re: Sky sports mix

Thanks both, not just AI that gives confusing results, I have an outstanding call with Sky and was told it was part of the Sports package. When we changed from Signature to Essentials I specifically asked about SSMix and was told we would retain all the sports channels and I don't think the call handler was aware SSMix wasn't part of the Sky Sports and I have since been told it was, hence the outstanding call. I feel it should be called something other than SkySports Mix and outside the 4xx channels to improve clarity for all.

hi @LouLou9

SKY Sports Mix is part of the 'Entertainment' Package & is not FTA or part of the Sports package (despite it's name) so on SKY Q you need Signature to watch it.

Thanks nigea99, it was sort of what I was thinking as we used to have it with Signature but when I google it ----says the channel is part of the basic Sky subscription which matches the channel 416 description, it also says it is a free to view channel available on Freeview without a Sky subscription???

Hi @LouLou9   We now have to be very careful of Google searches, as the AI results can be complete rubbish. For example it mixes up Sky Q Essentials with Stream/Glass Essentials. The base package for Sky Q is Signature, not Essentials. Freeview is a terrestrial TV service, not Sky Q Essentials.

hi @LouLou9

You need to be careful with info from non SKY Sites,

A search that I did said SKY Sports Mix was available on freeview but that is actually SKY Mix (an entertainment channel)

I am guessing many sites confuse SKY Sports Mix with SKY Mix

Also as far as the Basic  subscription these sites refer to it means the Entertainment Base package - not Essentials which is just the Free To Air channels (which is effectively what Freesat is)

BTW Not too long ago you could not add anything to SKY Q Essentials which possibbly adds to the confusion

Just as a double check - I checked  my multi-satellite receiver and confirm that SKY Sports Mix is encrypted and thus needs a subscription

hi @LouLou9

Unfortunately we do find that some advisers make assumptions rather than double check.

BTW SKY Sports News is also not part of SKY Sports full pack but it is Free To Air (in SD) so you can watch it

I can see why the EPG groups them all together but it does, as you indicate, make it difficult to identify which channels are in which packages
