That's irrelevant if your watching live as that is received via your dish

You're not making it clear what you are actually watching.  If it's a live broadcast (which is received from the satellite into your dish) there can't be any "buffering";  you may get picture breakup if the dish is slightly out of alignment, but this is a different issue.

Re: Sky sports buffers

Sky sports+ live football on a mini box in separate room from main box. Could it be the connection between mini box and Sky Q  box that sends signal to our two mini boxes

Ah, that's much clearer now.  The Sky Q box & your mini are linked via Sky's own WiFi mesh, if they are too far apart, or have a lot of building structure between them, the signal can be reduced & hence cause buffering at the mini when it tries to recover the lost elements.  Can you try moving the mini to a room nearer to the Sky Q to check that it can work correctly with a desent signal?  If it does, you can request a booster box from Sky that you place 1/2 way between the Sky Q & mini to help improve the signal.

It's also relevant that Sky Sports+ matches (other than the one on the linear channel) are delivered over the internet rather than by satellite.

So, with this in mind, check that any Sky Sports+ broadcasts are running without buffering on your Sky Q main box
