Hi @Anth

It is probably your TV. The UHD HDR pricture on my Sony XR-55A95K is stunning.

Please tell us your complete setup including the HDMI cable and length. We may be able to make some suggestions to help you improve it.

HD  & SD content needs to be upscaled to modern 4K resolution TVs.

Some people find their TVs do this upscaling better (or just different) to the SKY Q box - especially as the SKY Q boxes & their algorithms  are now several years old compared to newer TVs

Hi @Anth   The HDMI cable spec is crucial. If it not high speed and short, it may not be able to handle the x4 plus bandwidth required for UHD.

I've wacthed 4k stuff on tv through bbc I player  and Amazon prime and it seems good it's just when set to 4k on sky q box the menus like the writing and stuff is a little bit blurry and less sharp compared to 1080p

Hi @Anth   So okay when not through a HDMI cable. It is not the £399 TV from Curry's is it.

Won't be a cable issue. They either work or don't. I thought the menus were rendered at the res the box is set to output. 4k menus look ok to me but I haven't tried 1080p. Might give it a go later. But if the menus really are 1080p and then scaled to the output res then yeah maybe the scaling in the TV gives a result you like better (upscaling between those two resolutions is easy though, just double everything on both X and Y axes, doesn't need a clever algorithm)

wI'll do it as a test but I watch UHD / HDR material whenever possible so can't leave it on 1080p or swap between them every time and the TV content in HD looks fine output at 4k to me.

Because your tv is more than likely doing a better job of upscaling than the Sky Q box due to its processing power @Anth

And here I zoomed in on another 4k shot because the forum compression is making the photos worse, just to reduce the effect of that a bit . Not got a problem with how sharp this is considering that text is in the top left preview window.
