Sky q remote seems to have stopped working correctly.

While watching sky q tonight I seemed to be kicked out the system. No signal issues via router and WiFi remained working. I've checked the remote batteries (were pretty new), changed them, pressed 7&9 then 1&3 (though at that point the led light flashes around 6 times, not the twice detailed elsewhere). Sky q box is through a partition wall but have pointed remote directly at the box (in its direct sight) when attempting the reset. Have unplugged router and sky q box and left for a while before switching on and trying all of the above again. The led light on remote does flash when I press the ? button, but there is no reaction on screen to anything I press. I somehow have a sky channel showing at present but cannot change channel, see the menu or get into settings to attempt anything there. The sky q box was installed in Feb as I moved house so all the equipment is quite new. Help....

Reboot the Q box again.

To reboot press Standby on your Sky Q remote (if the box responds to the remote), and then switch off and unplug at the mains.
Wait at least 30 secs and then Plug back in and switch your Sky Q box back on at the mains.
Wait for the on screen instructions to disappear and the front led to turn Amber. Then wait for 30 secs before you press Home on your Sky Q remote or if this is not working press the standby button on the front of the Q box (Amber led)

note: some features may take up to 5 minutes to return.

 

Then press and hold 7 & 9 on the remote until it's led flashes four times.  Don't try pairing at this point.

This will put the remote into infrared mode and it should work the Q box.

It it does work the box
Then make sure that you are pointing your remote at the Q box and press 1 & 3 together until the led flashes and follow onscreen instructions to re- pair.

You need to be line of sight as you say to use infrared.

It sounds like maybe you are not able to point the remote at the ir receiver on the box

I got as far through your instructions as manually pressing the standby button.... but now nothing happens when I press the 7&9. I'll wait another few minutes and try again

@oldfella your instructions worked after I left the sky q box unplugged overnight.

Leaving it unplugged for 5 mins or 30mins didn't seem to make a difference. Frustrating, but at least it's now working 😀
