Sky q mini box connected to sky q but gives message “there is a technical fault with this channel”

I have two mini boxes connected to sky q. In settings it has two ticks. I am able to watch Netflix and other apps. I just can't watch any sky programmes. I get the message "there is a technical fault with this channel. Please try again later " I think the issue is to do with the ip address. Can anyone suggest a solution please?

Hi @SJW+1

First try rebooting the main Q box and then when this is completely back up and running reboot the minis.
To reboot press Standby on your Sky Q remote (if the box responds to the remote), and then switch off and unplug at the mains.
Wait at least 30 secs and then Plug back in and switch your Sky Q box back on at the mains.
Wait for the on screen instructions to disappear and the front led to turn Amber. Then wait for 30 secs before you press Home on your Sky Q remote or if this is not working press the standby button on the front of the Q box (Amber led)

note: some features may take up to 5 minutes to return.

Reboot the minis as above.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had already done this and just did the restart again. Unfortunately it's the same result. The mini box is connected to the sky q box and the network. We can access all of the apps eg Netflix , prime , iPlayer just not the sky channels. Any other suggestions or thoughts? Thanks

Hi @SJW+1

That means that you can connect you Q minis by WPS to your Router or your main Q box.

Exactly to what is each mini connected?

Ah ordinarily we could except that the boxes are connected by Ethernet cable. We live in a farm and use Ethernet to distribute wifi and sky into an outside building

The main sky q box in the house connects by wps. The two mini boxes connect via Ethernet. The odd thing is that until last week it worked perfectly. We do not know what has happened but it's not working now.

Hi @SJW+1

No option to connect the main box by Ethernet as well?

Re: Sky q mini box connected to sky q but gives message “there is a technical fault with this channe

Firstly thanks for the time you've spent trying to help. I could try and link the main sky q box by Ethernet but what I don't understand is why I can watch bbc iPlayer through the mini box but not the sky programmes. Does that make any sense?

Re: Sky q mini box connected to sky q but gives message “there is a technical fault with this channe

My sky q box works perfectley on everything,

however,

My sky mini box works on everything but the red button match choice or recap where it comes up with the message "there is a technical fault please try later", and the code LAY 1 or more recentley DUG 1 sometimes with an id code underneath which is  different every time.

Is there anybody on the planet who know what these codes mean?

I have had two mini boxes, two sky q boxes and an engineers visit and still it is the same, another engineer is due on the 7th November.

Sky technical knowledge seems to be limited to reboot or reset both boxes, which is useless!

I have tried every conceivable method of connection both wired and wifi, nothing makes a difference

I am beginning to believe he problem is at sky's end
