It's not sky WiFi I have got tho. Its virgin. I have tried our house password but nothing. The sky wifi is showing up full bars but not letting me on it.
May I just check that you are not trying to connect to the SKY network with your own wifi password ?
It should still be the Virgin network you connect to.
BTW we have had various reports that many people find the hotspot facility doesn't always help much

Re: Sky q box wifi
@Anonymous
Where Q television boxes are in use as hotspots they have the same SSID (network name) and wireless password as the router. If Sky is your ISP and you have a Q or Sky Broadband Hub then this should happen automatically, but for other ISPs there's a manual setup required.

The SKY Wifi generated by the Main box cannot be connected to.
If you have enabled wifi Hotspots (the option is only available to set on the main box for all q boxes) it then lets your Q boxes acts as hotspots for your Home wifi (in your case Virgin)
Hae you enabled the Hotspots ?

Re: Sky q box wifi
I have a Bluesound Soundbar and Pulse flex speakers and they attach to the SkyQ mesh network at random so I have a stereo pair of Flexes set up and 1 is on my YouFibre network and the other on the SkyQ network. The soundbar chooses the SkyQ network every time I install it.
My broadband is actually YouFibre so I don't understand why it can access the SkyQ network. It is causing issues with Roon but has only been a problem in the last few months.
