Quite possibly.
Give it a full reboot by turning it off at the wall for a few minutes then power it back on.
If it keeps making strange noises and turning off then you can ask for a replacement box. This will usually be delivered via a courier and you need to hand over your existing box and power cables and swap it for the replacement. Remember to remove your viewing card from the box first - you'll need to insert this into the new box.
