Sky q box intermittently won’t connect to the apps

Anyone else have this issues, I've had my sky q box a year now and randomly, maybe once a week now as it's getting more often, I just can't watch anything on any of the apps Netflix/paramount/apple etc I go on it loads the app but it just doesn't connect to the servers & won't play any shows & gives all the error msgs that it can't connect to the servers, note there is no issue with the internet,, only thing that fixes it is unplugging the sky box and plugging it back in, yes that solution works but jeez paying over £113 a month I shouldn't have to keep doing that on a weekly basis?

What's the exact error message you get?

Is this on the Main Q box or a Mini Box?

Does the Q box have a network connection when the apps don't work?

All of the error msgs are similar and when googling them they refer to not connecting to the server, Netflix code when googling says not connecting with server, paramount said can't play in your region...but it can, go on apple it says we can't play this right now, I would understand if it was just one, but when I get the error msg on Netflix I know it means I can't get on prime or apple or paramount as I have tried, there's no issues with the actual internet because unplugging the skyQ box only and plugging it back in tends to rectify it so I am not resetting my internet, I have tried not resetting the box to see if it was just a general issue but even 4 hours later, still can't get on any of them until I unplugged the box

Yes have had same issue twice in past few weeks. 
Streaming apps fail to be able to show the full episodes but I notice they still stream the trailers. 
One message I saw said it was a digital rights management issue (DRM).   Does not seem to be a connectivity issue as the Netflix speed test works fine.   Recordings still play back OK.  Only fox seen is a power off/on.

I had this issue I needed up checking for a software update last night once the sky q box had installed it everything was fine,

Being watching prime all day today, go on tonight and every single one

Hi i had same problem I went to settings and went to software update, there seemed to be an update . It downloaded and installed since then eventing has been fine. Try that

The software "update" probably only helped because itvrrstarted the box. It will let you do an update even if it's already on the latest version. Yes this is stupid.

 

@Tracy24582 yiu haven't said if your Q thinks it has an internet connection or not when these problems happen. Does the home page load ok with the various tiles or does it give a connection error?

Home pages load, it plays the the preview, but every single app says the same as the screenshots I added above, paramount, prime, Disney apple Netflix.

internet is fine, it says connected, 3 lights on the router, I just went on skyQ games and it lets me access them..., o yeah  and it always lets me go on YouTube which I assume uses the internet..so I know it's not the internet

Very odd. No it shouldn't be doing that, no connection at all is a common problem but not this.

 

What internet provider are you using? Is it 4G/5G based?

I've escalated this because it's so unusual. Watch out for a blue chat bubble. It will expire after 48 hours (I don't know if Easter will delay it appearing)
