Assume this is your Main Q box @Dylan789

Have you carried out a Network reset on this Q box?

If connecting by WiFi

Try a Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to connect by WiFi to your router.
If you are on Sky broadband you will be asked to press the WPS button on the Sky router. (Not on the Q box as the Network reset will start the main Q box WPS automatically). Make sure you press the WPS button on the Sky router and not the reset button.
if you are on 3rd party (non Sky ) broadband then you need to enter the SSID and password for the router 2.4 Ghz WiFi band.

If connecting by Ethernet carry out a Network reset with the Ethernet connected.
Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Select connect wired to non Sky Router (or Sky router if on Sky Broadband). Do not carry out any WPS and just wait for the box to connect. It may take a couple of minutes. If it does not connect there is an issue with the Ethernet connection.

Did you manage to get this resolved ? I have the same issue. Trying to get through to someone is impossible

I'm having the same issues. Sky Q won't connect to sky broadband - even if I select the network and type in the correct password. This has happened numerous times and I'm very frustrated. Can't watch any apps or my mini box. It's appalling @Sky

Hi @rmhough

Afraid Sky Q will not connect to Sky Broadband by SSID and password.

You need to use WPS.

It won't connect using WPS either. It obviously sees the network went I tried to connect via SSID!

I'm also having this problem. Can see the network but can't connect either by entering password, or WPS

Exactly same problem here.

I had to hold the reset button in the back of the sky router, not just turn it on and off. Worked then!

Mine spontaneously started working again without a reset

Got to love the Q's perfectly engineered wifi connection.

Hi. Did you get a resolution for your network issue your where having? Currently having the same issue. I have reset the network multiple times. Im getting live TV on main box but no apps on it and nothing on mini box. Very frustrating, as our main box is in bedroom and mini box is in main TV. Wifi is absolutely fine as other devices connected and strening no problem. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi @Gaz832 Try rebooting your router by removing the power cable for 30 sec then reconnect to reboot, then reboot your main SKYQ box by turning the power off at the socket for 30 sec then turn back on, then do the same with any Mini boxes?

Re: Sky q box does not connect to my network by either wifi or ethernet cable. Wifi is working fine

thanks for the reply. Ive tried rebooting everything multiple times. When reloading the main box looks like its connected to only loose the connection again after a minute or so. My firestick is streaming fine so the issue does seem to be with my sky equipment.

Re: Sky q box does not connect to my network by either wifi or ethernet cable. Wifi is working fine

I have witnessed this too.

I have had my setup for 2 years with Ethernet to my SkyBox.. never had problems.

Yesterday the box was stuck on bootup and the fans were going , which it normally does for a few seconds on boot, but this was going for 10+ minutes or more.

I switched box off and back on.. Sky Tv came up (Satelite) but now my ether net connection dropped.

I did the following.# (many of these require you to reset each time so you have the option to choose Sky Wifi / Other Wifi or Wired), I even did Factory reset which still didnt fix the Ethernet Issue!

1. Tested Ethernet link from cable to box., by connecting direct to TV and was absolutley fine. All lights on router / switch came on.. no issues there.

2. Network Reset -> Confirm -> Choose Wired Connection - Unable to get IP (And now no link liights on switch or router.)

3. Sky Eng Menu (Home->Settings->001->Select->Reset-> Settings - (Reconfigure box) -> Network Setup Wired -> No IP over wired

4.Sky Eng Men(Home->Settings->001->Select->Reset-> Settings - (Reconfigure box) -> Network Setup Wired -> No IP over wired

5. Sky Eng Men(Home->Settings->001->Select->Network-> Enable 2.4G then 5G Wifi-> Set Bandwidth to 80Mhz (because as I had been using Ethernet this had all been turned off)

6. Attempt to connect to 'My Wifi Network' (synced 2.4G/5G) (this is served over Mesh Deco Devices) -> Connected then 1 minute later it was disconnected.. Mesh Networks you dont typically control the WiFi channel used.. and so I think this is why you cannot typically use your own WiFi.. maybe wrong but thats what I came to conclusion of. (Used WPS and also attempted to use Wifi from another provider option

7. Enabled the Sky Modem/Router 2.4G & 5G Wifi (as I use Deco I never really had this on for last 2 years) synced Bandwitch settings- Used WPS -> Connected then Connection Dropped.

Beforebelow, I also ensured any IP addresses in my Router were not researved to the MAC address(es): (It has 3 btw, 2.4G, 5G and WiFi all have there own dedicated MAC interfaces.) of the sky box - you can check these in the Status Option in the Sky Standard Settings Menu.

8. Finally I unsynced the Wifi Bands (on the Sky Modem) and only enabled 5G settings.. went through the rest process of the Netowrk Settings and used WPS on the (Modem Settings page) - with default Wifi Network from the Sky Box.. This has worked and maintained a stable connection.

So in my house I have alot going on.. but in this day and age of connected devices.. many other may also have this & not realise.

1. I use Hive for heating - this uses its own Zigbee Network - requires Ethernet to work so typically will be near the Router.. unless your house has other options like Ethernet ports in other rooms.. plus.. I knda want it tucked out of the way. - If you use Hive, Hue or anyother Smart Network using Zigbee... be aware it uses 2.4G.. like the wifi used by default with Sky and you can easily reun into interference issues.

2. I also have a ZigBee Hub for smart connections (Powered by Hubitat) - This is like Hue for those that dont know.. but again it uses 2.4g.. I actually have this hub no where near my Sky Kit.. or Hive kit.. as I have seen issues when they are together.

What I know is (but dont really know why is) some devices when connecting to a Synced 2.4/5G network will attempt 2.4G first, it will initally work but is then the interference happens and then this is less stable... hence the drop.. but they will not attempt to connect to 5G.. the only way to foce this is to have a dedicated 2.4G Network for these types of devices.

I saw this with the Solar Kit I have in my roof which uses a basic WIFI modem to provide realtime data about your Battery and Solar install.

But 5G (WifI) is better for streaming so to force the Skybox connection to use 5G.. that is why I setup my settgins on my Sky to only use 5G.

Because I still use Deco and it is smart enough to adjust itself (in terms of wfi channels) if other networks exists (Plus there is an option in the Deco Mobile app to do a network potimsation ,base don other networks that maybe interfering with it)

Upside - Sky Q box has Internet.

Downside - Using the Sky Wifi.. but through configuration.. I think I have reduced the possiblity for network interference.

Interference is the biggest challenge we all face in our ever increasing smart homes today.. most people wont see it.. and whats worse is can be hard to troubleshoot.

What makes this worse is often (Electric and Interntet services often come into your house at the same point.. which can lead to you just throwing it all in your cupboard under the stairs.. etc)

So:

Isolate other sources of Radio Networks these are but not limited to:

1. Smart Heating (Hive uses own ZigBee network)

2. Samrt Electric Meters (again usese a devices in your main board outside your house to communicatew with that little meter you may have plugged into your router for power or just next to it)

3. Hubs like Philips Hue.. others exist.. check for the ZigbBee Logo : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Zigbee_logo.svg

I lost about 4 hours of me time last night because fo reasons I still dont understand Ethernet no longer works on my Sky Box.. I think Sky pushed an update to the box which has broken this... but I cannot prove it, nor do I have patience to call them to ask anyone.

I place my Sky 2.4/5G settings (minus key) fhere:
