Sky q Box Keeps Crashing & Needs Rebooting every 3-4 days

Sky Q Box Keeps Crashing & Needs Rebooting every 3-4 days. Sky working with a Samsung tv with the One box so sky q is tucked away. This has worked faultlessly for the last 3-4 years but recently this has started to happen and now it only last 3-4 days before we need to reboot the sky q box.

Hi @Coach4Running

Try a Reset Settings in the Q box hidden menu.
To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Only Carry out the first Reset (Reset Settings) as the other two will wipe all recordings.
After the Reset you will have to re pair your Bluetooth remote If you use one.
If you cannot switch the Q box on with the remote after the Reset press the Standby button (Amber led) on the front of the box.
To re pair the remote press 1 & 3 together on the remote and follow onscreen instructions to re pair.

Make sure that you are pointing the remote at the Q box when you press 1 & 3 together.

Resetting the settings will also reset:

Audio visual settings, such as picture resolution and HDMI control
Settings changed within the hidden engineer menu, include LNB type. If on a communal dish you need to reset the LNB to SCR in the hidden menu. After changing the LNB type you need to reboot the Q box.

Thanks for the tips @oldfella . I'll give that a try and let you know how we get on.

Re: Sky q Box Keeps Crashing & Needs Rebooting every 3-4 days

I am having a similar issue but it is happening several times a day.

It first started about a month ago, the main SKY Q 2tb (HDR) box just locks up and the fans start running at full speed. The only way to stop it is to switch it off at the mains and then re-start it. A SKY engineer came out and the first box he installed didnt work at all, he then tried a second box, which set up normally. He was gone less than an hour and the exact same thing happened. We are now on a third replacement and the issue is still happening, several times a day. It has gotten so bad that i have set it up with a smart plug so we can turn it off and back on again using Alexa.

The only thing i can think of is a dodgy software update that is causing the box to lock up.

Every corrective action has been tried, forcing a software update, resetting the HDD, disabling wifi and connecting it by CAT6 cable to the broadband, factory reset more times than i can remember, turning off the auto sleep function...

It is ridiculous..

We have the exact same problem  SO annoying - it has to be a sky problem or Samsung?

Re: Sky q Box Keeps Crashing & Needs Rebooting every 3-4 days

So, I finally gave up with EE and have gone to Sky. It was better if I used on WiFi and not the Ethernet but the EE tv box still kept crashing with the EE router. Sky engineers have been briefed on this EE issue (said the Sky engineer who visited) and there's little they can do.
so, after many years it's bye bye BT/EE and now fully Sky.
