Sky not recording programmes, saying power cut need to turn tv & sky off then on to get sky

Sky not coming on when turn tv on . Need to turn both off at switch then back on for sky to come up. Also programmes haven't been recorded saying failed & power cut . Hadn't been a power cut to the house . Been happening last few months
