Sky not bringing up the menu

I turned Sky on and got the message that Sky would be ready in two minutes, like you usually get, but then the screen stays black and we can't watch anything. Does anyone have any useful advice please?

Turned on from what? Did you switch it off at the plug for some reason?

Sorry, the telly was off so I turned it on and Sky never came straight on as it usually does. Itshowed a black screen telling me it would come on in two minutes. It never, the screen just went black.

The message usually says to hit home once the screen goes black...  Tried that?

Yes, that was the message I got, but when I pressed home it was just a black screen.

If the green led is showing on the SKY box try pressing the following keys on your SKY Q remote in sequence

Home 1 0 8 0 Home

Nothing happened.

We have a mini box upstairs and when the to screen went black I pressed the home button but the Sky box showed a red button, the the Sky box downstairs shows a green button. Doesn't make sense to me.

Sorry, not a green and red button, it is a light.
