Sky hd viewing card in sky q box

I had a sky hd box and a while ago cancelled my subscriptions so it was a basically a freeview box

I have just moved and the lnb is set up for sky q for the previous occupants. I have now acquired a sky q box. I have only got the sky q box for freeview. I have put my viewing card in from my sky hd box but my viewing card won't pair & I can't record anything. Is there a fix for this?

@Spuddy1978  Where did you acquire the Q box as they are only legitimately available from Sky who would norally require a subscription pack of some sort.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

if you didn't get that from Sky (with an active subscription) then you've purchased a brick.

All Q hardware is loaned from Sky with an active subscription.  Anyone selling such boxes is essentially 'stolen'.

There is no Freeview reception on a Q box because, as noted above, possessing a Q box without a Sky subscription is not legitimate: this is different to Sky+ HD where the hardware was sold to its initial user.

Free-to-air satellite reception, Recording and app access on Q is through the Sky TV Essentials subscription product which can only be ordered from Sky: they will loan a Q box for this.

Alternatively purchase a Freeview 4K box that works with Q LNB.

@Spuddy1978 Personally I would contact who ever sold you the Sky Q box and ask for your money back

Then you can either contact Sky for an essentiaslssubscription(basically Freesat channels) or get and external contractor to replace the LNB on the dish so you can use your old Sky+HD box as you have been at your previous property
