Sky essentialls only had sd recoring for itv3 ch4 etc
To cut costs (im 86) i spoke to a great guy at sky customer services ,to reduce the cost of my sky package .He suggested ,after I had requested the streaming puck, down grade to the essentially package ,from my ultimate, as i explained I only require all sky sports and free to air tv but all in HD.
BUT after it was installed ,,I persuaded the sky engineer to fit the new LNB to my existing 3/4 mtr dish and my cables which I installed many years ago.Which he did ,all fine with 100% quality and strength..But the first recordings I did were fine in HD but all recordings on catchup for ITV3 and 5a prompt comes up ( y,ou do t have the package and can only record in sd .)OK after speaking to Sky since my findings
They have said i need go back to my precocious tv package ,So just to get HD quality on a few catchup chsnnels sky want about £20 extra .,It's o lying £4 for all sports in HD. At the moment they are revving my telephone conversation with their customer guy ,Rhydian a great welshman .But obviously I've been missled
We've hsd HD Znow for so long and sky are still using the old technology to extract more money from us mugs .
Cheers Brian aWright

Yes, for some bizarre reason some catchup channels cannot be accessed in HD without an HD subscription. (I believe it's not Sky's decision)
In terms of being 'misled' I'm not convinced unless you specifically asked for catchup and not broadcast channels.

Hi many thanks for your reply,
Sky are listening to my conversation with theirvguy.
I definitely said ,because when you negotiate a deal, there can be hidden add ons.
I said it includes all HD ADD ONSand was informed yess .It comevto a good price of all sky sports plus and free to air essentials for £44 / month.Mind you because the contract has change before my end date ,I defy anyone except a chartered accountant to work out all the add ons and refunds listed in my account .
Cheers Brian

Re: Sky essentialls only had sd recoring for itv3 ch4 etc
Sky have contacted me ,after listening to my contract update telephone conversation and requested me to phone them.
They apologises for me being mislead, and proceded to give me the cost of having to upgrade my Sky essentials tv package to HD..After much conversation I agreed to an increase of £9.50. .This includes HD,including all catchup recordings as well as many other channels i don't require ..But I'm satisfied with the outcome , although the sales person tried to get me to signup to FullFibre broadband,Interestingly Sky have just signed a deal with City Fibre, the same company that supplies me via Toob Full Fibre,When I asked Sky's cost it came nowhere near my 18 month contract at £29 / month for 1gb/s (actually 980mb) no mid term increases and a £ 25 retail spend .. voucher..It pays to talk !
Many thanks for your replies
