Sky a mini refuses to work with different broadband providers
I'm extremely disappointed with Sky. Looking for a sanity check here...
Ive recently moved house, where I've taken my sky TV package with me, however not the broadband package.
In my previous house, the sky mini worked perfectly with my main sky q box and the sky wifi. However, now that I have a different router (which is far more powerful than Sky's), they just will not work together. I've tried multiple times to pair up the boxes, where it will work for 2-3 minutes then post the message "cannot connect to the Sky Q box". I've read that the Sky box itself connects to the Sky Mini with its own direct wifi, and the distance between the boxes is the same, if not less, than in my previous home.
I've come to the conclusion that this is a shortfall in the system architecture, and another ploy to push customers to get the whole ecosystem. Anyone else using a different broadband provider (or just router) to Sky, however getting the mini to work?
thanks
Owen

hi @Botto_oh
You need to be aware that when your home broadband/wifi is not SKY the mini does not use your home wifi - instead it uses a wifi signal generated by the Main box.
Are you able to connect the mini to the main box via ethernet (or via powerline adapters) ?
You may be able to get a booster from SKY to boost the wifi from the main box
You may also find that just moving the SKY Q boxes just slightly might improve things - Iwhen I fist got SKY Q my mini regularly dropped out in the evenings - I found moving the mini just a couple of feet and turning off wifi in a nearby AV Amplifier cured my problem
P.S. Also we know DECT home wireless phones sometimes an interfere so make sure they are not near either box
