Make sure the box is in a well ventilated position. You should be able to rest the palm of your hand flat on the top of the box.

Always sit anything like this on a hard surface (not on the carpet for instance), don't put anything on top and give it space around itself away from other sources of heat either electrical or otherwise. I would unplug it from the wall for a minute and then let it reboot and see where you stand.
