Sky UHD is so dull it’s not worth watching

How do I improve the brightness and contrast when watching Sky Sports on UHD...?????

By making sure your TV is set up correctly and has a high enough peak brightness for the HLG format of HDR that Sky uses.

You can set your UHD output to 8bit so it doesn't do HLG if your TV doesn't go bright enough to handle it well. Normal HDR10 from apps like netflix and prime will also stop working though so you might want to use TV apps for those rather than keeping swapping the Q's output setting.

Peak of just 350 nits.  Unfortunately, nowhere near enough to display HLG without being dull.  (Recommendation is at least double that)

Only around 325 nits.  The reviews criticised it's HDR performance: "The HDR peak brightness is mediocre. Small highlights get a lot brighter than in SDR, but it's still not enough for a true cinematic HDR experience, and the TV can't maintain high levels of peak brightness the longer a bright object stays on the screen."

Hi @MPos1971   Try googling display specifications if the manufacturer doesn't publish the full specifications. Just as a comparison, my old Sony TV was 1500 nits with an excellent HLG HDR picture.

You can just Google the TV make/model and the word "nits" and usually get a decent hit.

Firms like RTings in the US do a lot of panel testing so you will often find a number associated with any review, or on the manufacturers spec page for the TV.
