Hi. Could any one please tell me with my Sky Q is it just the Sky Q box that is covered against fault or is it all sky equiptment,i,e sky dish, cables, e.c.t

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreTechnically the dish transfers to your ownership after installation but Sky usually repair or replace it f.o.c. Same goes to external cables. Ours were fried due to a house fire next door some years ago and we weren't charged for replacing.

Thank you. It's just that we've been paying sky protect insurance for years, almost £20 a month now, but some one told me If I have Sky Q I was insured for everything anyway and therefore don't need a separate insurance. I just don't know if this is true. Almost £20 a month is a lot of money if I don't need to be paying it.

Find out moreSome people (myself included) opt to have Sky Protect through Domestic and General Insurance because it covers additional products such as iPads, mobiles etc. I have my Sky Q system covered, an iPad and iPhone + loss and theft cover and pay nowhere near £20. It's up to you whether you keep it but just for Sky Q it's not really necessary tbh.

@June57 One other advantage of SKY Protect is the speed of callout for an engineer - without SKY protect it can now take many days if not a couple of weeks or more.
