Sky Q with Ethernet cable but two mini boxes on wifi - can this work?
Hi, I thought I'd put an Ethernet cable from my Sky full fibre router to my Q box, but I'd have my two mini boxes via wifi. Is this possible and what settings would I need to adjust on the Q and mini boxes? Reason is that occasionally the router loses the Q box and I have to reset by saying it's on a third party broadband just so it finds the option and then I have to manually put in password. Pressing the WPS button never works.
Thank you.

@Franski555 the first thing we need to know is do you have the black or the white router from Sky
I may be a Sky Superuser but I am still just a Sky customer
Sky Q 2 TB (Silver)Box, 2 Mini boxes since June 2016, all connected by wifi
Sky Broadband Hub/SR203, Sky Ultrafast broadband
Ultimate on Demand, Q Experience/UHD, Sky Sports, Sky Cinema
LG 49SJ 810 V UHD TV, Google Pixel 7 Pro mobile

Thank you! It's the white router.

That's the new Sky Max router @Franski555
Afraid that with Q this performs like a 3rd Party router and if using WiFi connection on your main Q box you do need to use the SSID and password for the 2.4 Ghz band.
However if using Ethernet then you need to carry out a Network reset on the main Q box with the Ethernet connected.
Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Select connect wired to non Sky Router. Do not carry out any WPS and just wait for the box to connect. It may take a couple of minutes. If it does not connect there is an issue with the Ethernet connection.
With the minis on WiFi they will not connect to the Max router and they need to connect to the main Q box WiFi.
Reboot the minis as above.
If the mini still does not connect try a Network Reset on the minis. Start with the one nearest to the main Q box
Network Reset found in mini Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to WPS with main Q box.
You will be asked to press the WPS button on the main Q box (not the mini as the Network reset will start the mini WPS automatically).
When you get the first mini connected then for other minis use WPS on the nearest Q device (main Q box or previously connected mini).
Failing all of the above you may need a Sky Q WiFi Booster to position midway between your main Q box and the mini and you will need to contact Sky directly.

Also I recommend you disable 2.4GHz wifi on the main box.
