For many years I have had a black router connected by wired ethernet cable to the Sky Q box at the far end of my home.
I was recently advised that I should have the new white sky hub to provide greater wifi coverage in my home. There were no issues previously.
I received the white hub and configured it to have same SSID as the earier one.
When I connected the Sky Q box to it, the Network Connection repeatedly connected and disconnected making it impossible to have any streaming or for our mobile devices to connect to the internet via the Sky Q box in the front room.
I have tried resetting and powering down and up and nothing seems to work - except for re-using the black hub/router.
Are there any known issues with the white hub/router that prevent the wired connection operating?
I am shortly getting FTTP installed so will the black hub/router work OK for me?

I'm using an 8 port tp-lint gigabit switch that has no fan!

If your black router is the sr203, then yes it will work fine with Sky fibre.
I used the Sr203 previously with Sky Q on my Sky Ultrafast + (500Mbps) and from Feb this year with my Sky Stream.
Had no issues, all my previous Sky Q main and mini and now my two Sky Stream pucks run on wifi.
Any ideas on why this Sky max hub may be connecting to Sky Q?

Find out more@aplcomms if your Q box can be hardwired turn iff its WiFi as I suspect part of the problem is that you have the same SSID for both the new hub6 and the wifi hot spot the Q box is broadcasting. The hotspot no longer can be used to connect third party devices and can inly be used by Sky Q mini boxes. If you need to connect Q minis either change the SSID on the new hub or reset the network on the Q box.

I have a rather long bungalow and the router and Q boxes are at diagonally opposite ends. I need an access point with same SSID at both locations.

Are you saying the hotspot feature doesn't work any more?

I'm saying that the wired connection is unstable and is up and down every 30 seconds or so.
That means the Sky Q box does not communicate with the streaming services and the mobile devices are unable to connect to the router via that Q box access points.

I was asking Chrisee, sorry if that wasn't clear.

I have tried the white router with the sky Q box using a direct connection and it would not connect.
I connected via an old Cisco 2960 S1 switch that might be 100Mb/s and it was better but kept losing internet connection.
I have resorted the the black hub and sky Q box over direct connection and that is stable. Do I need to have an upgraded Q box?
I am using a straight through ethernet cable. Would a Cross-over cable be better?

I downloaded the latest software to the Sky Q box and it then started working OK.. I have had the FTTP installed and all is working OK.
When looking at the Sky Hub Ethernet port status I find that the connection to the 2TB UHD Sky Q box is at 100Mb/s and not 1000Mb/s.
Would I need an upgrade to the Sky Q box for it to work at 1000Mb/s?

Glad it's working better. You don't need 1000Mb to the Q box. Sky never downloads at anything close to that speed, even on the v3 boxes which have Gigabit adapters.
I assume you're not using the cisco switch any more?

The Sky Q box specifications says Ethernet port is 10/100/1000Mb/s. But it does not say what version of box that refers to.
