tried to unplug it and left for 5 minutes checked all leads and tried home1080home. Just left with a black screen no sound or anything

Are you sure that the TV itself is powered on?
Try switching the TV on first using its own remote.
Then switch on the Sky q box with the Sky remote.

When you unplugged the box & connected it again did you see the Sky startup screen?
Is the TV on the correct HDMI output channel?
Have you changed the HDMI cable?
