Sky Q to x2 mini boxes via Ethernet

I have sky Q 1TB box and x1 mini connected via Ethernet all working fine.
I have added a 2nd mini now and tried to split the Ethernet cable to go to both minis but both have MR104 error now. Can a single Ethernet cable from main sky Q box be used for multiple mini boxes?

What do you mean by split?

Does your main Q box support 2 mini's?  (Older ones only support 1)

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own

Hi, thanks, I have Ethernet cable from sky Q box going to a patch panel and from there it goes to x2 separate mini boxes.

can connect 6 mini but only one can work at a time-I am trying to see how to upgrade to UHD box so multiple mini can be used at once which would remove this constaint

'Splitting' ethernet typically requires a powered ethernet switch.  While dividing a cable into two sets of four strands is theoretically possible for 100Mbs data, it's almost never viable in practice (and couldn't work from a single source such as a main Q box)

Correct topology is main Q box to ethernet switch over ethernet cable, then each Mini box to the same switch over their own individual ethernet cables, preferably with the internet router connected to the switch over ethernet too.

@Ronan2 Sky typically will allow 4 mini boxes connected to the main box but with the 2TB boxes and the 1 TB UHD only 2 minis can be viewed at the same time the older 1 TB non UHD box only allows 1 mini box to be used with the main box

As @Laing1 indicates, no connection method can bypass the inherent in-use device limit, and four Mini boxes is the maximum Sky will supply: any obtained elsewhere are not legitimate.

Thanks for advice, gives me options, considering starlink to improve internet which would solve a lot of problems
