Sky Q switches itself off when turning it on 1st time

Minor but strange issue.

I recently upgraded to a new (refurbished) Sky Q box v2 (external brick PSU version) from a 2016 v1 box.

Before, I'd turn the Sky Q box on using the remote, which would automatically turn the TV on also. Now, I turn the Sky Q box on, TV comes on also but after about 5 seconds, the Sky Q box switches itself off automatically. TV remains on. I then turn on the Sky Q box again with remote again and this time it stays on.

Any ideas?

Assume you have checked it is on the latest Software?

Also

Try a Reset Settings in the Q box hidden menu.
To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Only Carry out the first Reset (Reset Settings) as the other two will wipe all recordings.
After the Reset you will have to re pair your Bluetooth remote If you use one.
If you cannot switch the Q box on with the remote after the Reset press the Standby button (Amber led) on the front of the box.
To re pair the remote press 1 & 3 together on the remote and follow onscreen instructions to re pair.

Make sure that you are pointing the remote at the Q box when you press 1 & 3 together.

Resetting the settings will also reset:

Audio visual settings, such as picture resolution and HDMI control
Settings changed within the hidden engineer menu, include LNB type. If on a communal dish you need to reset the LNB to SCR in the hidden menu. After changing the LNB type you need to reboot the Q box.

Thanks @oldfella however reset did not resolve the issue. I have also turned the Standby Mode within Settings from Eco to Off but this has also has no effect.

Hi @type-r  

Just as a test try switching the Television on before switching on the Q box.

@oldfella Yes that works. Downside, is that it now requires two presses as opposed to one and the TV one requires to press and hold to switch it on, so whole process is not "instant" like it used to be. First world problem for sure but still a tad bit annoying that it's not working like with my previous Q box.

Hi @type-r 

It looks like something with the Television powering on that is causing it.

What breed is your telly?

Thanks @oldfella - it's a Samsung. I'll take a look at the settings to see if anything is set to ECO mode or to set sources to standby after X seconds etc.
