Re: Sky Q sound cutting out every 30 sexonds or so
Sound dropping on sky boxes (Q and earlier) has been an issue for longer than i care to remember. And lip syncing as well.
for the last couple of weeks, this appears to have resurfaced again. I had the lip syncing issues watching BBC1 via my box last week, so bad that I resorted to watching via the tv directly.
sound dropouts, particuarly on the 401 (uhd) is so bad ive had to go the the HD version - 404 for the T20 final on currently.
I to have forced a software update and a power off reboot to no avail.

Hi @GavM99
Try a Reset Settings in the Q box hidden menu.
To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Only Carry out the first Reset (Reset Settings) as the other two will wipe all recordings.
After the Reset you will have to re pair your Bluetooth remote If you use one.
If you cannot switch the Q box on with the remote after the Reset press the Standby button (Amber led) on the front of the box.
To re pair the remote press 1 & 3 together on the remote and follow onscreen instructions to re pair.
Make sure that you are pointing the remote at the Q box when you press 1 & 3 together.
Resetting the settings will also reset:
Audio visual settings, such as picture resolution and HDMI control
Settings changed within the hidden engineer menu, include LNB type. If on a communal dish you need to reset the LNB to SCR in the hidden menu. After changing the LNB type you need to reboot the Q box.

Re: Sky Q sound cutting out every 30 sexonds or so
Thanks for that.
tried that and an interesting observation. I selected the England v New Zealand 2nd ODI from the Home Screen - Live sport panel, and sound appears fine. So I then switched to 401 and within seconds the sound dropped again and again.
selected from the home panel again and the sound appears rock solid - 10 mins in (approximately)

Re: Sky Q sound cutting out every 30 sexonds or so
From my experience it materialises 100% on my mini boxes after a reboot.
i will find they wil periodically loose connection to the main sky box a d then need a reboot to reconnect.
but any reboot causes sound drops on any of my mini boxes.
this happens on live content, recordings and streaming apps, so it appears to be the box itself rather than a connection issue (also there is no visible frame skip in the video as it happens)
It settles down sometime later after an hour or so

Re: Sky Q sound cutting out every 30 sexonds or so
Sound was dropping out on all channels. I switched from Dolby Digital to Normal via Audio Visual menu on Settings and it was sorted. No more issues. It's down to what audio device you are using I think.
Hope this helps.

Same problem, had it for years but seems to have become worse recently. Tried resetting and rebooting, Dolby on and off and it has been the same across two different sound systems, Yamaha originally but now a fairly high end LG system.

Re: Sky Q sound cutting out every 30 sexonds or so
The problem persists unfortunately, but I have now turned my sound bar off and the problem has totally disappeared. With Tv speakers there is no lag and no sound drop.
So I suspect it is a sound bar problem with an HDMI connection.
I will try to connect sound bar to TV via Bluetooth and see what happens.

Bluetooth has a fraction of the bandwdith of hdmi so I'd be surprised if it's better but will be an interesting experiment
fwiw over HDMI direct from the sky box, my Yamaha amp never skips.
