Last year we had a few issues with Sky and connection etc and told many times we would have to get Q.
We put it off but my husband became ill and enjoyed his TV so we got Q just before Christmas.
Since then had loads of problems and do not like Q at all. Told we may revert back initially now after many complaints told we cannot. We have old Sky + box and engineer said to keep in case we changed our mind - but now only option is to put up with crap Q or get old box plugged in and have no contract.
Is it right we would not be able to record or download? What would we get if no contract etc on old box?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@trickertracker it is correct that Without a contract you wouldn't be able to record or download and you would only get FTA Channels like bbc itv 4 and 5 plus a few others

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@trickertracker I'm afraid you can no longer revert to Sky+ as Sky no longer market it or provide engineer support for it. It's a legacy product.
We might be able to help if you can tell us more about the problems you're having with Sky Q?

Sorry that you hae found SKY Q dificult - we know some, if not many, do not get on with it.
I am afraid, I must point out that you cannot just plug your old SKY HD box in even to just watch the Free to Air channels as the electronic bit on the dish (LNB) will have been changed during the installation of SKY Q and the old SKY HD box will not work with it

@trickertracker So sorry to hear of your woes and difficulties.
We had the sky engineers out about a month ago(as we are Sky protect customers)to replace some cabling to the dish from one of our Sky HD boxes, which was experiencing signal issues. We have kept with our HD boxes because of my parents having issues with eye sight - basically we've always adopted an"if it aint broke, then why fix it"policy here at home, and touch wood-its never let us down
And off the record, even the Sky engineers were telling us just how problematic Sky Q can be.
Hope things improve for you.

thats interesting that sky engineers were telling you just how problematic Sky Q can be

easy to revert back, change the lnb back or get a hybrid, whip the card out the q box and put it back in the Sky HD box and pair it, only issue is if you have multi screen as with sky q you only get 1 card

I was thinking the same thing would be interesting to see how long it would last before it got triggered by sky

It will work perfectly fine, your not breaking TOS either, EMMs will still get to the card, so entitlements won't expire etc.

@HeathHayle Yea,they were super friendly, and really down to earth.
They were telling my mum to stick by and keep what works for you, which is two Sky HD boxes(multiroom)
Additionally one of them who was a female manageress covering for sick leave said that IF she and her wife could, they'd ditch their Sky Stream system, and go back to a HD box.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I know what you mean. Q box is rubbish, give me old box back any day. Its always freezing, trouble turning on.
