Sky Q router working on sky Gigafast

In March my BB contract was up so I rang to see what deals I could get. I was greeted by a guy that said he had a great deal for me for Sky Gigafast. It was going to be £5 a month cheaper than what I had so I thought I would go for it. Two days later I tested my WiFi speed and it still was only showing 500Mb. After speaking with many Sky Customer Advisors I had an engineer turn up who told me that the Sky Q router can only give a maximum WiFi speed of 500Mb. So basically the guy who sold it to me had sold it to me under false pretences. If I had known this I wouldn't have gone for Gigafast in the first place. I am advised that the Sales people know what the router WiFi speeds are so why not be honest with me and tell me I would not benefit from Gigafast?

I just want other people to know about this and not make the same mistake as I did.

You may be best posting in the broadband section of the forum as this is not Q (TV) related.

Of course, any network is as fast as the slowest connection.  There may be other router options but the headline speed is of course measured to your router and not to devices past it.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

@Derek+arm

You shouldn't be using a Q Hub with Gigafast broadband: the minimum specified is the Sky Broadband Hub.

A Q Hub will actually function for data, but cannot provide voice service.

As @PandJ2020 indicates, no ISP actually guarantees wireless performance.

Almost no individual hardware is capable of using anything like that kind of bandwidth: the point is a household supplied by such a broadband connection can have a considerable number of high-demand devices in simultaneous use.
