Re: Sky Q random frequent sound dropouts

Ive been having this a while now. And after a conversation it's clear sky are well aware of the issue but have no appetite to do anything more about it now other than send new boxes or engineer to string people along. Sky q is old hardware and software and is being retired, as is dish driven subscription. They are hoping we get fed up . Send it back and opt for sky stream,glass,air......which apparently is happening in large numbers

Re: Sky Q random frequent sound dropouts

I wouldn't think it's anything to do with WiFi....well not the issue I have....my issue is with the main box and watching content off air.  There's no problem with recordings, downloads or anything that comes from the hard drive...just stuff off air.  If I change channel, the issue can start straight away, after 10mins or after 30mins but once it starts to drop out, it doesn't stop until you pause the broadcast. This forces the hard drive to come into action and there's nondropouts after that.

Re: Sky Q random frequent sound dropouts

I've isolated mine to being when the sky Q box wakes the soundbar and tv before it has completed it's own restart so some sort of sync error?  Only solution so far is to power everything off from the remote and then let the Q box wake the rest up again, maybe there's a deep sleep for the Q box that is not engaged with a quick off and on?

This works for me after a couple of goes

Re: Sky Q random frequent sound dropouts

Thanks for this David. I figured it had something to do with my sound system. Anyway, I have since switched to full fibre with Sky tv essentials package and this is no longer an issue. Everything is streamed and so far it is trouble free.

Re: Sky Q random frequent sound dropouts

I don't want to switch to pure streaming. I want to be able to avoid all the adverts which isn't possible. In any case, fibre isn't available where I live, and Sky just loves randomly rebooting my router which is annoying enough as I work from home!
