Re: Sky Q random frequent sound dropouts

Had the exact same problem all day, now I'm watching the Arsenal game....it's properly driving me mad. When I'm watching recorded programmes, it's fine but live broadcasts are rubbish. What ever happened to 'believe in better'? How about just delivering the basic service that we're paying for? Not a happy bunny.

Re: Sky Q random frequent sound dropouts

I'm getting fed up with sound drop outs. It's frequent and usually at crucial times ruining what I am watching. I've tried all the suggested tricks but wonder why I am still paying for a rubbish device month after month. ?

Re: Sky Q random frequent sound dropouts

Had this happening on mine over the last week on discovery channel. My Q box has lan cable, turned off WiFi, tried resets etc, keeps happening. Have Samsung tv but don't use sound on that, as use the sky devialet sound box, connected via hdmi.

This is doing my head in and I feel like smashing the sky box to pieces and sending it back to sky, this is happening after their recent price increases to further add salt to the wound.

Sadly, this issue has raised its ugly head again. Discovery is particularly bad.

Re: Sky Q random frequent sound dropouts

I have the same issue,  Samsung TV, Sky Soundbox and Sky Q with frequent sound drop outs at random intervals. Have tried all new expensive cables , swapping hdmi ports etc. to little or no measurable difference. I have found if I break all connections and remake them all while the sound is active it does seem to improve for a short, emphasise short, period.

As has been said, Discovery is by far the worst but that could just be because I have more hours on that than others.

Welcome any thoughts

David

Re: Sky Q random frequent sound dropouts

Ok, so my problem of random momentary audio drop out is not related to sporting events it's all the time and, as far as I know all channels.

I didn't get it until I changed av receiver....I bought a Primare SPA25, it was ok with a Denon and when connected direct to the TV.

The problem seems to only happen when watching live off the dish because, as soon as you pause, the issue goes. Plus watching recordings and downloads is fine.  Ie: it's fine when watching via the hard drive but bad off the dish.

Re: Sky Q random frequent sound dropouts

I again attempted to bring it to Sky's attention that this is an issue that needs serious investigating. They just seemed to fob me off and advised i call technical to register complaint!!!

I told them that ive had 3 visits from technical, had three new boxes and three new mini boxes and still the problem exists!

They are in denial and just dont appear to belive that this is serious!!

If there was anything else out there i would swap, even after 30 years of being a Sky customer...

Wish there was someway to get to Sky board or their CEO to advise of sound issue and how many it is affecting!!

Re: Sky Q random frequent sound dropouts

Hi,

I feel your pain. I had the problem for a year or so.

For me the fix was to connect the sky box to the sky router, rather than my own router (for better WiFi around the house). Direct network cable straight into Sky router, problem went away. Think it was a double NAT problem causing some data packets to be lost.

Good luck...

Re: Sky Q random frequent sound dropouts

I don't really want to run a physical cable due to equipment positioning. I an wondering if a Powerline adapter would work.

Re: Sky Q random frequent sound dropouts

Don't see why not. You could try and if it doesn't work send the power line adapters back.

Re: Sky Q random frequent sound dropouts

Hi, Also have this problem, just had new 2tb Q box installed last week since we have had issues with picture breaking up and sound dropping out, problem with all channels live and recordings. Today 2nd engineer called changed main cable and LNR. Problems started again within an hour of engineer leaving. I reset box via hidden menu and adjusted all settings I changed from UHD to 1080P this seems to have solved the issues. Equipment I have is Sony Brava 50" TV, with optical lead from TV connected Via DAC to Sonos Connect. Currently seems to be working ok, fingers crossed.

Re: Sky Q random frequent sound dropouts

Changing from UHD to 1080 doesn't sound like an acceptable solution though
