Hi , I never knew sky + had slow motion , could never see the point of reminders after it stopped automatically changing the channel over to the channel I had a reminder set for , it just flashed up " reminder " and I had to manually change the channel

no aslong as your not bothered about 4k the 1tb box is perfect
like i said
bit of a difference from sky+
Further to @oldfella 's note however you should also note that the non UHD box only supports 1 active mini and can record less programmes at once (3 I think vs 6)
Needless to say if you ever want a UHd box there is likely to be a charge

Thanks everyone for your replies , I currently have the EL025 LNB , I'll have to ring sky again to ask them to change it
No need. The installer will check and replace as necessary as part of the process.

hi @edgie700
As some of your posts have cast doubt on whether they have booked an engineer to visit to swap the LNB and install (as they normally do) - they probably have but there does seem to be some doubt, I have escalated your post to SKY who, hopefully, will be in touch to go over what has been booked and cover off anything else regarding the switch
Please see this link re the escalation and what you might see:

If you are using Safari I believe you must make sure that 'Hide IP adress' is not checked in settings to be able to see it - if you have difficulty finding that setting then may be try accessing here with another browser

Although I know you have ordered your upgrade I still think it may be worth reading some general notes I have put together for people considering moving from SKY HD to SKY Q.
Although it is fairly long and some of it may not be releveant to you I do suggest you read in case there is something you may find useful (especially the note about being unable to revert back)

Tbh I've never had 4k so I'm not that bothered about it , the guy on the phone tried to take £99 off me for the basic 1tb non uhd box, then he said he'll do it for £49 then it was for nothing ! I know I've not got a 4k sub but I actually thought he was being a bit cheeky with that ! I've heard that it's £99 for the 1tb uhd box which is fair enough I suppose

I agree with @Chodley The agent was probably getting confused with a doorstep box swap which is a self install.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreSince Sky own the boxes in perpetuity , I think an install / delivery charge is ok but £100 to move their box to your house is cheeky. I paid £50 for the HDR upgrade which was worth it imho but really just involves them shipping me a box and shipping my older v1 Q back.
I like UHD but honestly I think HDR makes a bigger difference. The increased contrast, more realistic bright lights and wider range of colours really brings things to life. You can only get HDR with UHD on Sky though.

I've seen pics online of sky Q boxes and noticed some have a HDMI input on the back , do they still have this ?
That was the v1 2TB ('Sky Silver') hardware back in 2016: it's never been clear what the Sky thinking was in specifying it that way.

@TimmyBGood shame because I could've plugged a DVD player in it
