Sky Q needs rebooting at least once a day
Hello, first of all, why on earth is it so frustrating and god damn hard to get direct help from Sky.
My issue is; Sky Q box needs rebooting at least once a day due to it crashing, this is affecting scheduled recordings as well as all other functions. It is not a remote control issue, the physical buttons on main box do nothing causing me to totally unplug and reboot persistently. Is there any help out there??

@DMT25 You could try resetting the settings in the Q boxes hidden menu.
To enter the hidden menu press the home button and scroll down to settings but do not select settings.
With settings highlighted press 0 0 1 then select
Only Carry out the first Reset being Reset Settings as the others will wipe all recordings.
After the reset you will have to re-pair your remote assuming you are using a bluetooth remote by pressing 1 and 3 together on the remote
I may be a Sky Superuser but I am still just a Sky customer

Re: Sky Q needs rebooting at least once a day
When it 'crashes' is it just sat there in standby with the fan at full speed? I'm having that issue with my Sky Q box which is less than two years old. Just started happening this week. And then there's the 'EE router problem' which is the same issue. Some say take the ethernet cable out if you're using one, but that hasn't worked for me.
Anyway, there are one or two threads about the fan issues if that's your problem. No soultion, I'm afraid, as far as I can see.

There's probably a more elegant way of doing this, but just in case this is the fan issue, here's a couple of discussions:

Thanks for reply.
No, the fan sounds normal, it's just the box won't do anything, I have to pull the power out then it resets. It can happen when I am watching something and then try a remote control function and nothing happens even buttons on the box do nothing or when I come to turn box on from standby it's just unresponsive resulting in another reboot.

Thanks for replying,
I have done the reset you have suggested, it's just a waiting game now to see if this has resolved my problem, I will keep you updated.
Fingers crossed!!

Re: Sky Q needs rebooting at least once a day
Well, I thought the reset had worked. No problems for nearly 48 hours, then yesterday afternoon it decided to start playing up again, I was so annoyed that after the third time I just pulled the power and left it out and watched Netflix instead on my reliable fire stick.
What to do next as it seems virtually impossible to get help from sky.

Re: Sky Q needs rebooting at least once a day
Ditto for me. There is no rhyme or reason as to when this is happening other than the fact that it NEVER happens whilst the device is actually being used, even if used for several hours, which is when you would expect the unit could in theory overheat. But my unit never feels hot to the touch, so I just don't understand what triggers this. Seems more like firmware/software to me, but nobody seems to know.

Re: Sky Q needs rebooting at least once a day
After much of the same shenanigans, the box no longer likes its hard drive. So I scanned qr code on error screen, followed the instructions to reset hard drive two times with no success.
The help suggested I need to order a new box so I proceed with this to end up with message saying booking system is down or unavailable and to call sky, not got the time or patience to be doing this tonight knowing what kind of dance that will be, no chance until the weekend now due to work commitments.
