Sky Q miniboxes not able to join the network

Earlier today was on the phone to Sky about my broadband performance which has gone right down hill over the last few months. As part of the diagnosis, performed a hard reset on the broadband hub plus booster. Now it seems that the mini boxes were all disconnected from the network as a result but will not reconnect despite numerous attempts, rebooting the router each and every time as instructed on the mini and also  the main box too as an attempt to get them connected. As a result, the far end of the house away from the router no longer has any wifi and so the baby monitor cameras are not working (let's hope for an uneventful night!) I've been at it for c 2 hours now - frustrations and climbing up and down stairs quietly certainly takes it toll so I've sacked it off. But has anyone got any pointers I can try tomorrow? I saw another thread mention a network reset on the mini, but I've got no menu to select it from at this stage!

Many thanks

Hi @Phil4

I know you have probably tried some of the following but try it again in the order given.

First try rebooting the main Q box and then when this is completely back up and running reboot the minis.
To reboot press Standby on your Sky Q remote (if the box responds to the remote), and then switch off and unplug at the mains.
Wait at least 30 secs and then Plug back in and switch your Sky Q box back on at the mains.
Wait for the on screen instructions to disappear and the front led to turn Amber. Then wait for 30 secs before you press Home on your Sky Q remote or if this is not working press the standby button on the front of the Q box (Amber led)

note: some features may take up to 5 minutes to return.

Reboot the minis as above.
If the mini still does not connect try a Network Reset on the minis. Start with the one nearest to the main Q box
Network Reset found in mini Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to WPS with main Q box.
You will be asked to press the WPS button on the main Q box (not the mini as the Network reset will start the mini WPS automatically).

If you are on Sky Broadband and the Router is nearer to the mini than the main box then you can try pressing WPS on the router instead of the main Q box. If you do this make sure you press the Sky router WPS button and not the router reset button. If you get the first mini connected then for other minis use WPS on the nearest Q device (main Q box or Sky Router if on Sky Broadband or previously connected mini).

Failing all of the above you may need a Sky Q WiFi Booster to position midway between your main Q box and the mini and you will need to contact Sky directly.

Re: Sky Q miniboxes not able to join the network

THanks @oldfella but I think that advice is what I saw on another post - been rebooting everything, don't get to a menu on the minis to be able to do a network reset and I already have a booster, which I tried moving to improve the signal at the back of the house when the minis wouldn't connect, but not sure if that even connected itself as the wifi signal no different with or without it when stood within cms of it!

One of the minis pretty much above where the router is, so only place to put inbetween is in the floor boards!

I think it will be another call to sky again today

Hi @Phil4

Assume your Booster is a Sky Q WiFi booster?

(If it trying to connect minis) also that it is connected by WPS either with the Main Q box or the Sky Router.

It should also have a full complement of Green LEDs.

All I can suggest assuming your main Q box is working is to get a mini as near as practical to the main Q box to try to connect it.

Also if you connect the booster to the main box (again??) you could try positioning it between a mini and the  Main Q box.   Then use WPS with that in a Network reset.

Re: Sky Q miniboxes not able to join the network

Thanks for your efforts @oldfella but I've been on the phone to Sky and they couldn't do anything so have booked an engineer visit for me
