Sky Q mini box not connecting via wired ethernet
System:
BT smart hub 2
Sky Q 2Tb connected by TP-LINK powerline AV1300
3 mini boxes connected via WiFi
1 mini box wired to hub via ethernet switch (not managed).
I cannot get the ethernet wired mini box to connect via ethernet. If I turn 2.4 & 5Ghz WiFi off it never gets an IP address when i try to connect using the setup option to establish a connection by wired ethernet.
If I have the 5Ghz WiFi turned on the mini box uses this to connect to the 2Tb box's mesh (the IP of the box can be seen on the hub manager as connected through the 2Tb box connected port) but it's unstable, freezes, loses connectio which is why I put a wired connection in for that box.
The switch works as the TV and Xbox are connected through it ok.
How do I get the minibox to connect to the router onlyy by ethernet and for the 2Tb box to find it?

Hi @Gaza13
Afraid when on 3rd party broadband you need all Q boxes connected by Ethernet to your router if you want to use Ethernet on a mini. Ethernet by Powerline can be an option if successful.

Re: Sky Q mini box not connecting via wired ethernet
Ok. In which case I think something else must be happening with my setup. I had problems with that minibox connections when it was first setup. Previously I ran a long ethernet cable from the router nto that room, plugged it in and it immediately fixed the connection problems. It ran ok for several months that way.
Could it be that the box was using the ethernet cable to supply internet and at the same time connected to the 2Tb box using the sky mesh for satellite TV only, thus reducing the traffic to that box and making it stable?

So long as the main box is connected to the hub/router by Ethernet only the mini box you want by Ethernet must be connected to the hub.
Alternatively you can connect the non working box to any working mini or the main box and you don't need to connect to the hub.
