Sky Q mini box has red light but won’t switch on….. tried rest button, nothing happens!

Mains power was off for few days when went away, came back & both our Samsung TV won't come off standby and sky q mini box now won't either?

Hi @ChaCha79 

Regarding your Samsung TV try a reboot..

Disconnect power lead for 30 sec and then reconnect.

Hi, TV still not working so now tried using sky q mini box on a different TV... problem still there & it won't come off standby, have tried many times all of the power off / reset button / power on and I'm not getting any flashing red or green lights! Reading the sky guide it says we might now need new mini box but can't afford that! Any help?

Hi @ChaCha79 

If you have completed the following Recovery procedure and cannot solve your issue then the Mini needs replacing.

As all Q equipment is rented replacement is at Sky's responsibility and will be free of charge.  
Contact Sky for replacement.

To complete the recovery procedure on your Sky Q Mini box:

  1. Switch the Sky Q Mini box off at the mains.
  2. Hold down the Reset button on the back of the Sky Q Mini box and switch it back on at the mains.
  3. Keep holding it until the light on the front flashes red and green. This will take about 30 seconds.
  4. Once it flashes red and green, press the standby button on the front of the box.

If the lights don't show after 30 seconds, repeat steps 1 to 2. If it still doesn't work, you might need to replace your Sky Q box.

  1. The box will then restart.
  2. After the on-screen messages have disappeared, press Home on your Sky Q remote to switch your box back on.

Most features will work straight away, but some can take up to 5 minutes.

@ChaCha79 if you need to replace you mini box Sky will replace them frre of charge this is because all Sky equipment is loaned to you so Sky are responsible for replacing it but it must be returned to them when you leave Sky
